The Graduate Exhibition
Graduate Exhibition 2022
The Graduate Exhibition celebrates research and creative scholarship, in all its aspects, as an essential and exciting part of graduate education at Penn State. Established in 1986, the Graduate Exhibition places special emphasis on communicating research and creative endeavor to a general audience and offers an unusual opportunity for professional development by challenging graduate students to present their work virtually in clear, comprehensible terms to people outside their fields.
The Graduate Exhibition is also an opportunity for graduate students to see themselves as part of the larger University community, to share their scholarship, and to appreciate the breadth of quality research being done at Penn State.
The 2022 Graduate Exhibition will be held from March 22 through March 25, 2022 in a virtual format and judged online on the Exhibition website, with the exception of the performance category that will be held in person at the Recital Hall at the University Park campus at 7:00 p.m. EST on March 25, 2022.
The Graduate Exhibition features five distinct categories showcasing Penn State graduate students’ research and creative accomplishments:
Research Presentations: The Research Presentation Option is open to graduate students from all disciplines at the University. Students will present their research via a recorded oral presentation.
Design: The Design Option is open to graduate students from all disciplines whose research focuses on the design of a product, whether that be in a 3-dimensional or digital space. Students will present their design project.
Visual Arts: The Visual Arts Option is open to graduate students for whom creating studio work is a required part of their graduate degree program. Student artwork will be displayed on the exhibition website with a recorded explanation of the genesis of the artwork. Exhibitors in the Visual Arts option will have the opportunity to share their artwork with alumni, Penn State, and State College community members in a “Gallery Walk” on Friday, March 25, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. EST in the HUB-Robeson Center Art Gallery. The artwork will be on display from March 25 through April 17, 2022.
Video: The Video Option is open to graduate students from all disciplines who wish to present their research in a video format. Videos are 2 minutes in length and capture the excitement, importance, and value of the scholarly work.
Performance: The Performance Option is open to all graduate students who are pursuing graduate degrees in the performing arts. Performances will be held and judged in person on Friday, March 25, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. EST in the Recital Hall at the University Park campus.
