How is English competence defined?
It is left to the graduate program to determine the level of English competence required for a student to be successful in the program and in the field as a professional. This might differ by program/field, so the programs should set their own standards.
Can EPPIC seminars be used to meet this requirement?
EPPIC seminars are not assessed, so they do not meet the requirements of the English Competence policy.
Does this policy apply just to international students?
No, all Ph.D. students must be assessed for English competence.
How will the results of the English assessment be reported at the time of the Qualifying Exam?
The Report on the Doctoral Qualifying Examination form will include the preliminary assessment.
