This policy pertains to all graduate degree programs under the Graduate School.

Background

Policy Statement

  1. CIP code assignment (for new programs) and CIP code changes (to existing programs) are to be based solely on a program’s course of study. Furthermore, the choice of CIP code must be one that most accurately reflects the program curriculum.

Process

  1. New programs request a CIP code on the Program Proposal Form.
  2. Requests to change an existing program’s CIP code can be addressed to the Director of Graduate Council Administration of The Graduate School.
