Application Process

A prospective student interested in applying to the McNair Scholars Program should first meet with the McNair director, either in person or virtually, to learn about program commitments and requirements. To arrange a meeting with the McNair director, send an email to engagement@foxgradschool.psu.edu.

The application process is comprehensive to ensure program fit and eligibility. An applicant is required to provide personal, financial, and academic information, as well as a personal essay and two letters of recommendation. Additional information may be requested at the discretion of the McNair director.

When directed by the program director, an applicant will be provided with a link to complete the online application form. After the applicant submits a completed application, they are required to participate in an in-person or virtual 45-minute interview.
