For Veterans and Servicemembers
This event is for student veterans and servicemembers (Active Duty, Guard, Reserve). If you are a military dependent or ROTC Cadet/Midshipmen, please disregard.
The Office of Veterans Affairs and Services will host a special ceremony to award our Penn State student veterans and servicemembers their Military Honor Cord prior to fall commencement. Each student eligible to receive a cord will have the opportunity to receive it on stage from Penn State’s President, Dr. Neeli Bendapudi, at the University Park campus. The brief thirty-minute ceremony will be followed by a social mixer with hors d'oeuvres for students, their families, and other university attendees. We would be honored if you would attend this cost-free, special event.
Also note: All Penn State students who have met graduation requirements and have served on active duty, in the Reserve/National Guard, or who will be granted a commission through Penn State Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) are eligible to receive a red, white and blue honor cord to wear with approved academic dress at commencement ceremonies. Students should contact the Office of Veterans Programs at veteran@psu.edu or 814-863-0465 to coordinate a pickup inside the Penn State Student Veteran Center. ROTC personnel may pick up their honor cord from their representative/office. Students who have not yet submitted the required proof of service to receive an honor cord should visit Priority Registration / Honor Cord for specific guidance.
