Graduate Student Excellence in Mentoring Award

The Graduate Student Excellence in Mentoring Award recognizes senior doctoral students for exemplary and effective mentoring of undergraduate and/or new or junior graduate students that significantly contributes to the student’s personal growth, professional development and/or academic success.  

Pending receipt of qualified nominations, at least one award will be supported annually for the selected nominee.

Nominees must be enrolled in a doctoral degree program in residence; be in good academic standing, with a minimum GPA of 3.5; have completed all course work and passed their comprehensive examination; and have demonstrated, during the course of their Penn State enrollment as a doctoral degree student, exemplary and effective mentoring of undergraduate and/or new or junior graduate students that contributes to the mentee’s personal growth, professional development and/or academic success.  (Not limited to doctoral students on graduate assistantship appointments).  University employees receiving educational privileges are not eligible for this University scholarship/award in accordance with Penn State policies HR36 and HR38.

Applications/Nominations for the upcoming academic year will open in the August time frame.

Students may apply directly or faculty/staff may nominate a student.  Please contact your college graduate education office for important information, attachments and nomination link contained in email announcement.
