  • Doctoral Alumni Reunion Weekend

    Penn State doctoral alumni celebrating their 10th, 25th and 50th anniversary of receiving a doctorate returned to University Park for the Graduate School’s annual Doctoral Alumni Recognition Luncheon in Kern Graduate Building on March 19. The 14 honorees included six doctoral alumni observing their 10-year anniversary, two commemorating their 25-year anniversary, and six who merited special distinction by joining more than 3,000 doctoral alumni who have been recognized over the years as 50th anniversary celebrants.

  • College of Medicine Student Honored by the Special Olympics

    As a volunteer with Special Olympics, Taryn Mockus has invested her time, knowledge, energy, and spirit over the years in programs and events that enrich the lives of all athletes she supports. For Mockus, the personal rewards for her involvement are reflected in the achievements of those she mentors.   

  • Alumni Spotlight: Howard Cyr

    In an interview with the Graduate School e-Newsletter, Cyr reflected on his Penn State graduate experience, shared insights into a career, and contemplated the impact he would like to have on the University’s graduate scholars.

  • Graduate School Alumni Society Early Career Achievement Award

    Penn State Graduate School alumna Yiling Chen received the Graduate School Alumni Society Early Career Award Chen received her doctoral degree in information sciences and technology at Penn State in 2005. She was a postdoctoral research scientist at Yahoo! research from 2006 to 2008. Chen joined the Harvard faculty as an assistant professor of computer science in 2008. She was promoted to associate professor in 2012 and full professor, with tenure, in 2015. 

  • Graduate School Alumni Society Lifetime Achievement Award

    Timothy B. Gage, who received three advanced degrees at Penn State, is the 2016 recipient of the Graduate School Alumni Society Lifetime Achievement Award. This award is presented to alumni who have achieved exceptional success throughout the course of their career, and have demonstrated loyalty to the University and the Alumni Association.

  • Joint M.D.-Ph.D. student wins international prize, honored during weeklong ceremony in Stockholm

    Allison Cleary decided that she wanted to try something different, so the joint degree student who is working jointly on an M.D. and a research doctorate (Ph.D.) in Cell and Molecular Biology at Penn State’s College of Medicine participated in a cancer lab rotation.

  • Alumni Achievement Awards

    The Penn State Alumni Association honored 13 standout Penn Staters with Alumni Achievement Awards at a special ceremony on April 8. Five of the 2016 Alumni Achievement Award recipients received graduate degrees at Penn State, including GSAS President Krishna Nadella and Rachel Sayre, GSAS board member.
